Welcome to Explore, Sip, and Savor

This site grew out of the way my family and I actually like to travel.

We’re drawn to places and experiences that reward slowing down. An unhurried meal, a well-run tasting room, a neighborhood worth wandering, or an afternoon that doesn’t need to be optimized to feel worthwhile. Rather than racing from highlight to highlight, we tend to plan trips around experiences (and food) and let the rest fall into place.

Here, travel is organized simply:

Explore focuses on experiences and places worth spending time with.
Sip highlights wine, spirits, and the spaces built around them.
Savor is about food—where we ate, how it felt, and why it worked.
Trip Reports pull everything together, capturing a weekend or longer stay as a single story.

The common thread isn’t perfection or novelty. It’s attention.

I pay attention to atmosphere, to pacing, and to service that feels thoughtful rather than scripted. I notice whether a setting invites you to stay a little longer. Some places impress immediately. Others reveal themselves more quietly. Both can be worth your time.

You won’t find ratings or scorecards here. At least for now, that’s intentional. Reducing an experience to stars often flattens what actually matters. Instead, I try to focus on overall impressions. how something fit into a trip, what stood out, and whether we’d gladly build time around it again. The goal isn’t to declare winners and losers, but to share context so you can decide what resonates with you.

I travel with my wife and our twin sons, as a couple, and sometimes on my own. Some trips come together with detailed plans and carefully chosen stops; others unfold as we go. Whether planned or unscripted, I’m always looking for experiences that feel natural rather than forced. This site reflects that balance.

Everything here is written from firsthand experience. I've chosen what to include independently, and I share my opinions honestly and respectfully. When links are included, they’re there to be helpful, not persuasive.

If you’re looking for thoughtful recommendations rather than verdicts, and stories that favor experience over hype, you’re in the right place!
